JUNE

June marks the beginning of winter so life in the vegetable garden does tend to slow down but there are still things you can be doing.
  • Plant garlic (buy garlic bulbs from a garden centre as the supermarket varieties have been treated to stop them sprouting).
  • In sheltered areas you can still sow brocolli, broad beans, carrots, cabbage, cauliflower, cress, lettuce and peas.
  • Covering un-used beds with straw/grass clippings/newspaper etc can help keep weeds at bay and give the worms something to chew on until you need the area in the spring.
